What's It For?
The Wool Sports (now the Winchelsea Festival) was formed in 1997 to raise money to improve facilities at the Eastern Recreation Reserve, with the idea of combining various sporting and community clubs to enjoy the highest standards of facilities in the one area.
In recent years, we have seen;
- the oval reshaped, new turf laid and an irrigation system installed to use recycled water
- a new fence and seating around the oval
- full restoration of the Heritage Listed grandstand
- two new netball courts with competition-standard lights
The next stage of the master plan sees new community facilities with an additional oval. The Festival remains an important event for the town and community to ensure these projects are completed in the future.
